What Is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film is a transparent urethane material applied to exterior painted surfaces. Automotive PPF helps preserve your vehicle’s paint by reducing the risk of:
- Chips and scratches caused by rocks and road debris
- Swirl marks created during washing
- Chemical stains and etching from acidic contaminants
- Hard-water spots caused by mineral deposits
- Oxidation and fading caused by UV exposure
Benefits of a Rivian R2 PPF Kit
Paint Protection Film creates a durable barrier between your vehicle’s finish and everyday road hazards. It helps preserve the appearance of the underlying paint while allowing its original color and finish to remain visible.
Helps Prevent Damage
The film absorbs minor scratches and impacts caused by rocks, dust, insects, and flying road debris. Many available films also feature a self-healing topcoat that allows light scratches to diminish with time or heat.
Helps Prevent Fading
Paint Protection Film helps protect exterior paint from UV exposure that can contribute to oxidation, fading, and discoloration.
Helps Protect Against Everyday Contaminants
PPF provides an additional barrier against acid rain, mineral deposits, insects, water spots, acidic contaminants, and swirl marks caused during washing.
